Liquid packaging materials and machines

Packing of solid goods and assorted substances in different sized packets is enormously different than that of liquid packaging. Liquid contained inside the container must sustain smell, quality, freshness and nourishment along with the added task of checking the pressure it asserts on the packaging area due to its fluid nature.

Liquid items

There are various kinds of liquid items which require proper packaging. However, on general basis, they are mainly dairy products, medicine fluids, beverage components, water system comps, petroleum products etc.

The packaging style varies from pouches to large sized containers and depends upon the nature and quantity of the liquid to be contained.

Materials used

For filling part, there are many varieties of equipments used in machineries. Some of them are like filler series, pacesetter, orbiter, DA, IS etc. and for connection and fitment purpose, there are materials like QCD parts, uniseals, standard fitments etc. The entire packaging is done in pouches, glasses, bottles, cans, bulk bags and unglasses etc.

Technologies involved

From low viscous liquid products to higher ones, there is standardization for every kind. They are measured in oz, gallons, barrels, liters etc. various form-fill-seal machines do the pouch packaging for smaller amounts. There are also vertical machines, fillers. Bag filler technologies employ the fluid packaging in big aesthetic boxes. The machines are aseptic and are designed with chemical and steam sterilizers functions testing. To optimize safety and efficiency, they undergo regular check ups.

To avoid corrosion, several chemicals are regularly used. Microbiological testing is also employed so that they stay out of harmful virus and bacteria. Pressure, temperature and timing parameters are also equally important on part of the machines used for packing and packaging.

There should be ample research carried out by professional team to safeguard all these parameters and make regular testing on various stages through out the packaging. The sealing must be of good quality and so as the film and outer frame design.

Ideal liquid packaging

Knowledge of the resin and polymer behavior is very important as they are core containers of liquid elements. Each application must be individually checked, tested and scrutinized. The shelf life of the liquid product must be long and intact. It is advisable to make the whole packaging and graphics clear, catchy, attractive and lucrative. The packaging must have the strength and durability to sustain the roughness of transportation.
