Shrink Wrapping

This is one very popular and efficient method of packaging that involves providing overwrap for a number of products. This form of covering is used on pallet loads, large appliances and small articles like cartons, books, CDs, DVDs and beverage containers.
It is also called shrink film. When heated, this material shrinks firmly on what item it encloses. The substance is obtained from a type of polymer plastic. It can cover foodstuffs like meat and cheese as a primary wrap. It is also used in winter months for storing boats. Craft and art items can be perfectly packaged using shrink wrapping.

Materials used for Packaging

1. Polyolefin: it is an organic substance obtained by the addition polymerization of olefin monomer molecules. Polyolefin is also produced from alkenes. It comes in many strengths, clarities and dimensions.

2. PVC: This is a thermoplastic polymer material. It is obtained by the polymerization of numerous molecules of vinyl chloride monomer. Shrink wrap rolls and sheets of PVC are widely used for packaging.

Machineries and Technologies Employed

1. Single chamber shrink wrapping machine: this is one of the common machineries employed for a variety of shrink wraps. Shrink film, PP and PVC are taken as packaging materials. This machine provides tight shrink wraps for numerous packing purposes like food and drink, cosmetics and pharmaceutical packaging. 3. Automatic shrink wrap machinery: one of the very flexible systems of shrink wrap packaging, the machine handles various sizes. The cost of machinery is reasonable and the machine is robust and hardly needs any change of parts during its lifetime. There are collating and feeding mechanisms, totally automatic operations and efficient tunnel systems for producing any kind of shrink wrapping.
