Stretch machines

Stretch wrap packaging method has sparked off a miniature revolution in the packaging industry. Stretch wrapping techniques are employed for their efficiency. Not just that using the stretch wrap method also assures protection and productivity. To hold objects securely and conveniently, stretch film is preferred. This eliminates the process of opting for costly materials or technologies for packaging purposes. Most of the needs of packaging are met by stretch wrapping and it is also very cost-effective. These wrapping methods are used for packaging numerous types of products. Stretch film material is decided after looking at the usage. It is different for small articles and for larger objects.

Machineries and technologies

Single or more layers of stretch wrapper material are subjected to tension. The film is then wrapped around the item that requires packing. The extremes of the film are then sealed firmly. Stretch wrapping equipments are employed for:

  1. Grouping of individual items into a single package.
  2. Offering outer covering to protect items from scratch, moisture or dirt.
  3. Suspension requirements for bulky mechanical equipments.
  4. Compacting of materials like foam.

Stretch wrapping machinery: these maybe partially or fully automatic. They enforce tension on the films to seal the package together securely.

Turntable machinery: there are special conveyers to handle extra cargo. Turntable equipments are low on maintenance. The process is smooth and hassle-free. A few machines also have advanced touch screen facility to ease up the operation. The motors and drives are of various operation frequency values. The conveyor handles both forward and backward directions of loading. The drives bear ring gear mechanisms. The film treating section of machinery is mostly superior. Long-lasting turntables offer high outputs and are worth the cost.

Automatic stretch wrap:  these machines are completely automated wherein the operator feeds the data about dimensions and the object to be packed into the input’s touch screen. Failure or delayed responses can be handled efficiently. There are separate divisions to handle loads and compute various values for the tensions, capacity etc.

Materials used for Packaging

  1. Polyethylene: this comprises of macromolecules obtained from ethylene polymerization. It is useful to handle pallet packing. Thermoplastic and co extruded, with additional hexane molecules. LLD form of polyethylene is also used.
  2. PVC: polymer of vinyl chloride. Plasticized material with about .05 millimeter thickness for ideal stretch wrap.

Good elastic films with cling strength and tear endurance are preferred.
